Tricati Racer 500

The History

In the late 60's and early 70's the Tricati was born from a 500 Triumph unit construction engine and 250 Ducati frame, it was not easy to shoehorn the bigger engine into the small lightweight frame, but once done made a competitive fast and good handling light bike

Our Tricati

Our Tricati project uses a 1969 Triumph T100R engine with E3134 profile race cams, "R" followers, 9.5:1 compression pistons, twin 26mm Amal premier carbs and Boyer ignition and a genuine Triumph Close Ratio gear box, the engine has been totally rebuilt by us with many special parts, including a Bob Newby racing clutch belt drive unit and special made oil tank.

The frame is from a 1962 Ducati 250 Race bike, with Hagon rear shocks, twin leading rear brake, Ceriani forks and yokes, new alloy rims. Marzocchi front forks, the oil tank is custom made. The Triumph Engine was aligned to the centre of the frame and then the rear wheel was moved 6mm to align the chain drive moved from the original Ducati on the Right to the Triumph on the Left
