Kawasaki Z 440

Kawasaki Z440 Café Racer

The aim was to build a Japanese café racer on the lines of the 60’s style all other items such as lights, switches etc are standard

Kawasaki and chosen to be in keeping with the style

The bike was purchased in 3 boxes of bits from Ebay in May 2013; I have removed all unwanted lugs, and the frame has been powder

coated.

The engine top end was rebuilt but the bottom is original, engine covers have been polished and screw threads repaired.

The spoked wheels rebuilt with new allow rims and tyres, and all bearing/seals etc replaced and new shoes fitted.

Many of the components were designed and handmade in stainless steel:

  • Dummy Oil tank (houses the battery and rectifier)

  • Exhausts mounting “café racer” brackets

  • Side Panels Z440

  • Swept back exhaust pipes

  • Front brake torque stay

  • Wheel spacers

The seat is moulded like the 1960’s Japanese racers and the petrol tank is moulded in the style a Lyta short circuit race tank.

All mounting bolts, nut etc are stainless throughout the bike, the wiring harness was refurbished, LED lights have been fitted.
